A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed. In under a day we've pretty much hit the original goal of €500. I've bumped up the target so we can build this campaign even more. Share with your friends & family especially those in Galway City.

I've successfully gone from "write a quick python script to do something" to "I have a complex python application with a config file that gives me a lot of flexibility in using it and actually saves me a ton of time", and am currently considering escalating to "I need a domain-specific language (DSL) for the config to support even more complex use cases".
However, my intuition says that, as a rule of thumb, when you reach the point where you consider introducing a DSL, you should maybe instead reconsider some other parts of the system first. For example, I may just make it easier to introduce your own Python code to perform these complex custom checks, instead of generating it based on a config file 😅.

Abstract: The resonate-and-fire (RF) neuron, introduced over two decades ago, is a simple, efficient, yet biologically plausible spiking neuron model, which can extract frequency patterns within the time domain due to its resonating membrane dynamics. However, previous RF formulations suffer from intrinsic shortcomings that limit effective learning and prevent exploiting the principled advantage of RF neurons. Here, we introduce the balanced RF (BRF) neuron, which alleviates some of the intrinsic limitations of vanilla RF neurons and demonstrates its effectiveness within recurrent spiking neural networks (RSNNs) on various sequence learning tasks. We show that networks of BRF neurons achieve overall higher task performance, produce only a fraction of the spikes, and require significantly fewer parameters as compared to modern RSNNs. Moreover, BRF-RSNN consistently provide much faster and more stable training convergence, even when bridging many hundreds of time steps during backpropagation through time (BPTT). These results underscore that our BRF-RSNN is a strong candidate for future large-scale RSNN architectures, further lines of research in SNN methodology, and more efficient hardware implementations.

69/ Uff, das war gerade noch rechtzeitig. Jemand, der meine Gemütslage kennt, hat mir diese #Medizin besorgt. Sie stellt das Vertrauen in die Menschheit wieder her.
Das brauche ich dringend, nach dem verlorenen #Volksentscheid Klima, nach den verlorenen Wahlen, nach der #Polizeigewalt.
Dass der Volksentscheid zur Klimaneutralität Berlins evtl. verloren gehen würde, war klar. Nur hatte ich gedacht, dass die Menschen einfach nicht hingehen. Aber dass so viele hingehen und gegen ihr eigene Zukunft stimmen, dass hätte ich nicht gedacht. Dass die Berliner*innen in einem Auto-Wahlkampf die #CDU wählen würden. Samt Verkehrspolitik, die wir ja auch bekommen haben, hätte ich nicht für möglich gehalten. Wegen der #Polizeigewalt vor einer Woche bin ich immer noch fassungslos.
Die Medizin scheint irgendwo vom Laster gefallen zu sein oder aus einer großen Charge für eine Praxis entnommen worden zu sein. Ich habe jedenfalls keine Dosierungsanleitung. Bei der Corona-Impfung waren da immer fünf bis sechs Dosen drin. Ich würde Euch gern was abgeben. Also nur denen, die hier auch immer liken und teilen. (Obwohl ich mich auch über die anderen freue, aber die Ressourcen sind begrenzt. 🤷🏻♂️ ) Nur weiß ich eben nicht, wie hoch eine Dosis sein muss.
Und was wenn ich zu viel oder zu wenig nehmen? Bei zu wenig wird wahrscheinlich alles nur noch schlimmer und ich zerstöre meine Abwehrkräfte. Bei zu viel, ja, man wagt es sich kaum auszudenken! Würde ich dann in Fällen motorisierter Gewalt wie in 8/ einfach stehen bleiben. Im Vertrauen darauf, dass der Aggressor mich schon nicht umfahren würde?
